FIRES INCREASE

Blazing now along a front of about four hundred miles, the huge fires are continuing their terrifying devastation almost unchecked. Despite the hopeless situation, however, men are fighting day and. night in shifts. The people continue to pray for ram, but none is forecast for at least 48 hours. It is impossible to give even an approximate estimate, -of the damage which runs into hundreds of thousands of pounds. Mile upon mile of fencing has been destroyed, while thousands ot sheep have perished. Thus far station buildings have been saxed.
