IN WELLINGTON PROVINCE. fliy Telegraph —At-. Preax Association) WELLINGTON, January 3. There was a sharp earthquake in Wellington at 3.44 this afternoon. The direction, apparently, was north and south. WANGANUI, January 3. Rather a severe earthquake was experienc'd in Wanganui ait 3.45 this afternoon. It ' could be heard approaching for some seconds before the full force was feit, which, when it came, was more in the nature of an upthrust, there being no oscillations of suspended objects.
