The “Bulle” Clock is quite a new entry into the field of electrical horology. The essential mechanism of the clock consists of a pendulum which is virtually a coil of insulated wire; through, the coil an electric Current is established and interrupted at regular intervals by an ingenious contact device. During its vibration the pendulum moves.over a curved permanent magnet, and the magnet reaction set up between the permanent magnet and the electro-magnetic pendulum coil is the source of power by which 'tin pendulum is kept vibrating. Unlike obsole.e and existing types of electro-magnetically maintained pendulum clocks, the pendulum of the “Bulle” Clock, on receiving a starting impulse, vhas both’ the properties of a dynamo 'and a piot-or, consequently very little current is drawn from the battery. 1 Another feature is the propelling electrical, force generated by the vibrating coil and magnet, tending also to reduce the amount of current drawn from the battery. In fact, by adopting this novel form of propulsion, the inventors claim that it is an easy matter for one battery to operate the clock for ten years. The absence of complicated mechanism and the highly efficient electromagnetic principle on which the clock, functions will make this the most popular clock of the future.
