Nehru and his brother have been placed in the Naidi gaol where they will be tried next week. In consequence of their arrests, Bombay Congressmen have decided to abandon the public reception arranged for Gandhi’s arrival from Europe to-morrow. Following the arrest of Abdul Khan, British and Indian troops marched through the city and large numbers are in readiness outside, but at present there are no developments. The inhabitants generally are friendly disposed towards the troops. The wearing of the Red Shirt uniform has been banned throughout the frontier districts.
Over lour hundred redshirts have been arrested.
The situation in the United Provinces has improved, and the district authorities are hopeful of realising the rent arrears without difficulties.
A meeting at Poona presented Cubhas 'Chandra Bose, the Bengal Congress chief, with a welcome, and an address enclosed within the muzzle of a silver revolver.
