BASLE INVESTIGATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, December 21. According to Press telegrams l'r.om Basle, the Young Plan Committee met to-day. A proposal to adjourn till December 28th was defeated. The plenary meeting will he held to-mor-row. It is hoped that tlie Committee’s report will lie ready for signature on Tuesday or Wednesday. A NEW DEVELOPMENT. THE HOOVER MORATORIUM. (Received this day at 9.25 a.m) LQNDON, December 22. There was a new development m connection with the advisory committee at Basle when Great Britain introduced a proposal that the Hoover Moratorium should be prolonged by three, even five, years.
The French opposed the suggestion. It is .understood that all experts agreed upon the necessity for a ten years’ moratorium, conditional upon payments, Naturally, the proposal can only he a recommendation to the conference of Governments. This will probably open on January 15th. Sir John Simon and Mr Neville Chamberlain will lend tlie British delegation.
