NEW REGULATIONS
TRANSPORT CONTROL. I LICENCES AND FEES UP. (By Teleyraph- Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 22. The first regulation under the Transport Licensing Act come into force immediately. Nine districts have been created in addition to the lour metropolitan districts which were set up under The Act, and power is given to the Minister of Transport to appoint a Transport Appeal Hoard and district licensing authoiities. Applications 4 for passenger-service licenses (other than temporary licenses) must be made at least two months before the quarter-day immediately preceding the date on which it is desired that the new service or the variation shall take effect, but tliis clause shall not prohibit a licensing authority from foregoing this requirement, sptlong as it advertises the receipt of the application and gives three days’ notice of a public sitting to hear evidence on the application. Certificates of fitness must accompany all applications, including those for temponvy licenses. The various licenses are defined fts follows! A continuous license: A license in respect of a service to he carried Oft throughout the year, whether daily or on specified days of every week, or otherwise at regular intervals, or n licence in respect of special events' recurring at intervals during the year (eig,, daily, or on Sundays or racedays, etc.) A seasonal licence: A licence in respect of a service to he carried on only during a period or periods of the year specified in the licence (e.g., at Christmas, Easter, etc.) A temporary licence: A license for a service to be carried on for a specified period or not more than seven days or a licence for any specified special occasion or occasions (e.g., exhibitions, special sporting events, etc.) The l following fees have been fixed:
Accompanying every application for a passenger-service licence other than a temporary licence, £3; accompanying every application for a temporary licence, 2s 6d.
On the issue of every passengerservicel. licence other than a tempor- | ary licence, £2 (reduced or increased j respectively by 10s for each period ,of three complete months by which the term of tell licence is less or greater than twelve months. Accompanying every application for a certificate of fitness of a pas-senger-service vehicle—For every application in respect of a vehicle liot to he used under the authority of a passenger-service licence, £2; for every application in respect of a vehicle while licenced to 31st, May, 1932, under the Motor-omnibus Truffle Act. 1920, £2 15s; for every other application, £3. On the issue of every permit issued in vespect of a veheile to he used under a temporay licence and in respect of which application for a certificate of fitness has not been required, 2s 6d. On issue of every certified extract from the register of licences, Is. Allowances for members of the Transpsort Appeal Board and licencing authorities are also specified. While travelling to or from meetings the chairman of the Board will receive £2 16s 8d per day, and the other members £1 17s 9d per day. The chairman of the Central Licencing Authority will receive an allowance of £550 per annum, and the other members £350 per annum. In addition to these payments each member of the Transport Appeal Board, district licencing authority, will receive a further allowance of £1 2s 6d per day while travelling to or from his usual place ox a.bced and meetings of the respective bodies.
