£SOOO DAMAGES
AGAINST N.Z. AVIATION COY. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association J WELLINGTON, December 21. “I find, on the evidence, that the accident was due to the negligence of Ivan Louis Kight,i-rin attempting to turn into the -wind at too low an altitude, at a low rate.of Speed, thereby causing the machine to lqfee flying speed, and nose ldive.” & This decision is contained in the judgment by Mr Justice Reed in the interesting ease that was in the Supreme Court in September, in which William Thomas Strand,, Mayor of Lower Hutt, as administrator of the estate of his late son, William Charles Strand, claimed £SOOO damages from the Dominion Airline Ltd. (in voluntary liquidation). The case was the' sequel to the fatal aeroplane crash near Wairoa, as the result of which 'Pilot- Kight and two passengers, including Strand, were killed.
The Judge said that the plaintiff was entitled to succeed, and awarded £3OOO damages against the Company.
