SHOT DEAD. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this.day at 10 15 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 18. At Albanv. New York,- Diamond was shot and killed to-day during a party celebrating bis acquittal yesterday on kidnapping charges. His assailant is unknown.
A RAILWAY OUT. MONTREAL, December 18. The .Labour Department at Ottawa lias ruled a ton per cent, cut in wages in railway running trades must not be made retroactive. The railways had announced the cut recently recommended in a majority report of the Conciliation Board to he retroactive to, November loth.
