STRUCK IN FOG

REFLOATED AGAIN. LITTLE DAMAGE REPORTED. (By Telegraph. —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 18. Immediately after the vessel struck, Captain McArthur made an examination of the vessel. The weather was dead calm with a, dense fog. Two anchors were put Q ut astern and as the tide was rising, the ship was ' soon hedged off into deep water. So rapidly was the work carried out by the master and crew, that very few residents of the district saw the vessel while she was on the beach. As soon as the Breeze was afloat again she disappeared in the fog. The Breeze actually struck the beach near the site of the old Port Robinson jetty. Her nose was in the bed of a small creek which runs into sea here.

Reports say she has sustained little if no damage.

CONTINUING UNDER OWN STEAM. CHRISTCHURCH. December 18. A. report at noon said that the Breeze was corning on to Lyttelton under her own steam. An aeroplane has left Sockburn to go up the coast, and report what speed she is making, and whether she is in need of assistance. In the meantime the tug’s despatch has been delayed till three o’clock. STORM TO BE DOCKED. OHRISTCHURLH, December 18. The Steamer Storm, by striking a reef off Akaroa was slightly damaged amidship, and will be docked.
