PUBLIC SERVANTS

PROTEST BY P. AND T. ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph—Per Tress Association ; AUCKLAND, December 18. A largely attended meeting of the P. and Tv Employees Association carried a resolution protesting againjst the propaganda which it is alleged is being broadcast by Chambers of Commerce, having for its object an attack on salaries and the condition of civil servants. The resolution said the civil servants were carrying more than a fair share of the country’s burden, and any further attempts to reduce their living standards would be resisted to the utmost. The Association headquarters will be asked to obtain a Government assurance that there will be no more cuts, rationing or retrenchment, and failing a satisfactory reply, to arrange mass meetings of civil servants throughout the Dominion.
