THE NEW GUARD
ANTI-COMMUNIST CAMPAIGN. POLICE ARREST 50 MEMBERS. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, December 17. New interest lms been imparted to the Now Guard’s activities by !Inattention given to them by the police, under special instructions, the authority for which is not disclosed. While Colonel Campbell, Leader el the New Guard, was speaking at the Town Hall last night, members of the New Guard in various suburbs were engaged in affixing posters exhorting the voters to beware of Communists. The police patrols arrested fifty of the New Guard, and took the names of others.
A complaint is made that, while the police harass the New Guard in this manner, others persons are permitted to affix Communistic placards oi an objectionable character without, hindrance.
In onp or two cases, New Guards I omul men tearing down the United Party posters. The New Guard chased ail d caught them and soundly thrashed them.
