PRAISE FOR NEW ZEALAND
ADMIRAL BYRD’S ENTHUSIASM. A high tribute to New Zealand and I its people is contained jn a recent Tettvi from Rear-Admirai Byrd, the Antarctic explorer, to the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Canada, Mr J. W. Collins (states the ‘.‘Dominion”). A communcia'tion received recently from Mr lOolljns, by Mr C. W. Olinkard, manager of- the Tourist and Publicity ’Department, makes reference to the displays of New Zealand scenic and sporting attractions in some of the large centres in the United States. In connection with ithe -sew Zealand exhibits Mr Collins received the following letter from Rear-Admiral Byrd : “I am delighted to learn that- displays of New Zealand scenic and sporting attractions are to be shown in some of the llarger centres of the United States. T wish that all my countrymen could know New Zealand as I do, for I consider it one of the most beautiful and attractive countries in the world. I know of no country where the air is more bracing and healthy, or the people more kind and hospitable. For the sportsman it is fuff of interest, whether that interest be in the form of deep-sea fishing for swordfish or in the well-stocked inland rivers for trout, quinnat and Atlantic salmon. All’ ithe . members of my expedition are anxious to go back to New Zealand, and I myself am looking forward to making another visit in the course of the next few . years.”
