At the swimming carnival held tonight by the Canterbury Centre, the 880yds New Zealand record was lowered by 16 3-5 secs by D. J. Lindsav, who covered the distance in 11 mms (S secs. ,
D. H. Symes put- up a Canterbury record for 50yds of 26secs.
