BRITAIN’S “DISMAL RECORD.” ( ITALY’S FAST VESSELS. (United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph. —Copyright. 1 LONDON, December 15. Jane’s annual “Fighting Ships,” says: “There has been so little to tell of the British Navy. Mainly it is a. dismal record. There has been the scrapping of' four “Iron Dukes," and many cruisers, destroyers and submarines. On the contrary, Italy has six cruisers!, and 1 also 24 destroyers, capable of doing forty knots, one destroyer reaching a record speed of forty-four knots. France is preparing trials for a giant submarine, the “Surcouf,” and is still pondering how to answer Ger- • many’s pocket battleship.
