AMMONIA PLANTS BURSTS

ONE KILLED, THREE INJURED

OAMARU, December 14

When an ammonia liquid receiver burst at the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company's Pukeuri Works this afternoon, John Norton, aged 70, a married man, lost his life and three others were injured,, one of whom, (Ross Clark, lies in the Oamaru Hospital in a. serious condition. The men were working in' ,the _ engineers’ fitting room when the accident happened, all making their escape except Norton, who was subsequently dragged from the mom by Tn vwmuer who wore a gas helmet. Life, howevoj, was then extinct. An inquest "'as opened and adjourned after evidence of identification had been given.
