The wind rose to gale force and in the buffeting the ship’s rudder was damaged. The Versailles lias had to anchor off Steaford Head until tne wind moderates. A tug which was sent to her assistance had to fignu through a fifty miles an hour gale, and one huge wave broke over the deck, severely injuring one of the crew.
