DANCE RECITAL

AN ENJOYABLE PRESENTATION. The Princess Theatre last night .heal * a large and very enthusiastic audience when Miss D. Thwaites of Greyinouth, and her pupils, assisted by several vocal ists, gave a very enjoyable entertainy meat. The various numbers were given promptly and. the dressings were bright 0 and attractive.. Time after time the r stage presented an attractive appearr ance, with the bright colours of the r performers’ costumes. Excellent dancing was a feature of the recital and showf ed good tuition, while in most inc stances there was a lack of nervousness,' and the line efforts of the junior dancers, some of whom were quite small, brought J forth whole hearted applause from the J appreciative audience. Especially so was this when following the presentation of bouquets to Miss Thwaites and -..ss Gfese, by little Jean McManaway. the very young lady, a dot of just over two years of age captivated and fa.irly brought down the house by singing a popular verse. A capital orchestra sup- > plje.d a very fine .musical programme ’ and the accompaniments for. the dancers 5 were quite a feature. During an interval ; 'Mr LM. Houston returned thanks on behalf of the Hokitika Swimming Club I 1 to Miss Thwaites and her pupiis, to the orchestra and to all who had assisted * in the very successful entertainment. Later in the evening on behalf of Miss Thwaites appreciation was voiced of the assistance, and kindnesses received in Hokitika. There was quitj* a large number of boxes of chocojates placed oil the stage for the performers and these were presented after the performance.
