WOOL SALES

GOOD -FIGURES AT NAPIER. ,1 Hy Telet/mph—Per Press Association) NAPIER, December 3. Prices as good as, and in some cases better than, those of the Auckland sale, were realised at the opening wool sale for the Hawkes Bay district held here to-day. The prices lot fleece wool were very similar to those ruling at Auckland on Saturday, but advances were shown in inferior quality wools by a half penny to three farthings per, lb. Fine, hoggets wool made from 7d to Bd, good crossbred from 6d to 7d, but the majority brought 5d to 51 per lb. Anything that was at all shabby, including wool held oyer from the previous season, was left severely alone, and for®this class it was difficult to raise, any interest from buyers. The wool was in good condition, being a better class titan that at Auckland, and this no doubt accounted for the slight rise. Competition was keen up to limits, j continental buyers actively seeking j bellies, and pieces, which also had its I effect on-.the rise. Bradford also lifted a considerable portion of the fleece , | wool, hut competition in, this respect | was not so keen. The passings 'compared with Auckland, where only 50 per cent, of the offerings were disposed qff, were few, about 80 per cent, of the 22,612 bales submitted being Isold under the hammer. The sale is continuing to-night.
