CALCUTTA, December 1
“I am completely my,stifled,” declared Sir C. Raman, the famous scientist, after witnessing a remarkable demonstration of poison-swallowing by Madrasi Yogi Narasingha Swami at the Calcutta * University, under the strictest, scientific supervision. ‘‘A man lapped up every available known kind of deadly poison, showing a preference for cyanide potassium, and varying this with broken glass and nails, without ill effect, 'the poison was retained in the stomach and he was afterwards X-rayed, the position of the articles being located. Raman declared that the performance is a definite challenge to modern science. iSwami declared that he was a student of “hatha yoga,” meaning “suspended animation.”
