KILLED AND EATEN
FATE OF MINING ENGINEER. (Australian Press Association.) DARWIN, November 29. That Herbert Watts, a mining engineer at Hermit Hill was speared by blacks, and his body eaten hv alligators, is indicated in a report from mounted-Constable McCann of. Dally Water. McCann, accompanied by three blacktrackers, alter three weeks search reported that he had found bloodstains on clothing with portions cut out, evidently to enable Watts to withdraw the spears from his body. From the spot where the body had been lying, alligator marks were found leading to a lagoon, indicating, that the body had been dragged there.
