“Right through the electorate,” continued Mr Greenslade, “I have stressed the fact that I. am not there to gain votes by giving any visionary ideas or promises, and I have particularly stressed the fact that uubour has never yet in its platform shown where tli eyareablteo Shown where they nth able (to procure the necessary sinews of war, to carry into effect their programme. This can., only be accomplished by borrowing large sums of money, or by heavily-increasing taxation. On all occasions, the Labour candidate lias i,side-stepped this issue altogether, painting a very visionary idea of what could be. done, without giving an indication a$ to where the finance is available, I believe that the people are aroused to the true position of things throughout the countryside, and that they will, in a very determined way, show on polling day that the example of the people in the Old Country has not been lost on them.” MR O’BRIEN’S CAMPAIGN.
