What is described as a munificent offer has been made by Mr F. H. Stewiart, governing director of the Metropolitan Omnibus Coy., who has announced his willingness to transfer gratuitously a fleet of ninety large omnibuses, worth in the- vicinity oi £IOO,OOO, to the Government of New South Wales,- provided that they will use them in the service of the community, and will re-employ the original bus crews.
The Transport Board is now considering whether it can avail itself ol tlie offer. Practically the whole of the Metropolitan motor buses ceased running recently 7, following on heavy taxation. Mr Stewart is “Wizard’ Smith’s backer.
