TAUMARUNUI, Nov. 25
Mr Wackrcnv, Coalition candidate for Waimarino, addressed the electors last night and advocated a reduction in" timber freights. He received a vot© of confidence. Hon. E. A. Ransom addressed the meeting last night and said the Government realised that some people were suffering hardship, and wag determined to purchase 25 thousand sheep to put into cold storage for winter distribution to the needy.
ADVOCATE OF LABOUR
WANGANUI, November 25
Mr W. J. Simpson, official Labour candidate for Patea, addressed an me.flowing audience -here last nigiu. He declared himself a supporter of Labour’s policy, and in favour .of planned production and marketing, reduction of interest, derating of" farin' lands, coordination of all forms ot transpoit, maintenance of the present educational pension, hospital systems,...arid adequate maintenance of unemployed on re,ief work.
He advocated a control bank, the organisation of the credit system for kise in production, rationalisation, benzine supplies, milling and accident insurance. . . .. » P A vot© of thanks and"-confidence was passed. “COALITION PROSPECTS BRIGHT." CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. Hon. J. G. Coates arrived this morning to open his South Island campaign on behalf of Coalition. He speaks at the Caledonian Hall to-night, and is visiting country centres to-day. He goes to Temuka and to the Waitaki Power Works to-morrow.
“Coalition prospects throughout New Zealand are very bright, and we are looking to the future with confidence, he said .when interviewed.
INDEPENDENT WITHDRAWS
DUNEDIN, November 25
Mr R. S. Black, Independent candi. date for Dunedin North, was waited on this- morning by a number of citizens representing Coalition, and he agreed to accede to the deputation’s request to withdraw his candidature, so as to enable a 'straightout fight between Coalition and Laboui.
