RADIO PROGRAMME

A new series of W.'E.A. talk commences at IYA this evening, the speaker being the Rev, W. 0. iMonckton, M.A. 'Mis Gordon Robertson will be the lecturer on the evening's International Programme,' subject of her talk being:,; “Music—A National and International (Art.’’ . , . s The. 2YA 'Studio concert will be of. the. popular type. The Salon Orchestra, will play the. overture “Mireilife-," “Jevington Suite,’’ “Chanson Indoue/V “Minuet” (Friml), “Coppelia Ballet Music,’’ and the. latest, dance novelties. The major portion of the vocal items will be given by the Melodie Four. Also on this will programme will be Mrs Charles Pengetly (contralto), a newcomer to 2YA. A Scottish concert to commemorate St. Andrew’s Day, will be broadcast by 4YA. Mr W. B. MoEwan, Librarian at Dunedin Public Library, will give a talk about Scotland’s Patron iSaiiit. The Highland Pipe Band will piny. Scottish songs will be sung by the (Regal Four, in solo, duet’ and quartette form. Additional instrumental hurpbeis will be contributed by 'Miss Eva Judd l(violiniste). Siient day at 3YA.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26th. A special programme in commenforation of St Andrew’s Day, is to be broadcast by IYA this evening. The whole entertainment will be given by the Caledonian Concert. Party and should appeal to all Scots and lovers of Scottish entertainment. The programme will consist of pipe music, vocal solos and plenty of Scottish humour. Dr Guy H. Scholefield, 0.8. E., will be the lecturer on 2YA’s International Programme. The Christchurch Orchestral Society’s third concert of the season will be broadcast by 3YA, on relay from the Radiant Hail. As usual, a particularly attractive programme will be presented. The assisting artists will be Mrs F. Nelson Kerr (contralto), Mr M. E. Withers (clarinet), a string quartet (Misses F. Nolan, L. R. Robertson ami IP, Stringer and Mr C. R. Mooii) with the choir of the Holy Trinity Church, Avonside.
A’s .concert, programme- will be devoted to a presentation of - the principal excerpts from Lehar’s light opera “The Men'y Widow.” The cast of characters comprises Miss Mae Matheson, Miss Margaret Greey, Mr H. Johnston and Mr 0. S. Hawes. ‘
