UPROAR AT MEETING
UNEMPLOYED DISAGREE,
ARGUMENT ENDS IN BLOWS
TIMARU, November 18.
Disgraceful, conduct marked a meeting of Timaru unemployed last night, the gathering terminating in uproar. One member, it is alleged, was felled to the floor tvith a blow to the point after , a heated argument, with another,’ in the course of which one of the- men, it is stated, called the other a shuffler, not a worker.
The meeting was called to hear facts regarding conditions at the Lindis Pass Camp. A large number of women from the Housewives' Ulllol} wore present bv invitation.
It is stated that there was a, discussion over the exclusion of the Press, and after an exchange of personalities the argument ended in blows. One of the men took refuge under a table, and the chairman dosed the meeting am:dst uproar ten minutes after the commencement.
A constable was called by one of the mien concerned in 'the dispute, who alleged that he bad lost a tooth. The constable ’ asked the complainant to produce the missing molar, but he could not do so, and the officer declined to interfere.
