STATUTE OF WESTMINSTER, * ATTEMPT TO ALTER IT. (United Press Association—By Electro Telegraph - -Copyright, > LONDON, November 17. Professor Morgan addressed members of both Houses of Parliament on the Statute of Westminster adopted at last Imperial Conference. After the address the meeting decided to give notice of amendment declaring that nothing jn the Statute of Westminster shall repeal the North America Act or tffe Irish Free State Agreement. In the House of Commons the address to the Throne was agreed to without division. A; motion for the rejection of. the Statute of Westminster was tabled by Messrs Morris (Liberal) and Majoriba nk® (Conservative). NO RENT CAMPAIGN. CALCUTTA, November 16. The Indian Nationalist Congresr Part-y in the United Provinces threatens to break the peace pledge reached between Lord Irwin (ex- Viceroy) and Mr Gandhi, by requesting the peasants throughout the province to withhold the payment of their rent revenue due to the Government. This action .rj the Congress is tantamount to a renewal of civil disobedience, though there is no evidence yet that the peasants are responding to the Congress advice.
