CANCELLATION URGED

WASHINGTON, November 16

Italy’s desire for a cancellation of war debts and reparations was broadly suggested, in a statement to the press by the: Italian , Minister of Foreign Affairs, Signor Grandi, after his arrival here on Monday. He said that President Hoover’s declaration of one year’s moratorium in inter-govern-mental obligations had been a call to action, and “a warning to the nations of the urgent necessity of facing the situation with the united effort ol co-operation.” Referring, very apparently, to the situation in Germany, he said:-“The-, misfortune of one nation can never he the fortune of another..” •.
