TWO AMERICAN VISITORS

CHRISTCHURCH, November 17. * 'fhe* viclams *of a series of malicious hoaxes, two distinguished American visitors to ’Christchurch, Dr L. D. Coffman (President of the University of Minnesota) and Mrs Coffman, had an unenviable day yesterday. All arrangements for their entertainment were cancelled by bogus telephone calls. In addition, Mrs Coffman was sent hurrying to Lewisham Hospital, where, so she had been informed, her husband was seriously ill. This was another hoax. The perpetrator was an unknown woman who seemed to have a knowledge' of their movements.
