CLAIM AGAINST UNION
BY EXPELLED MEMBER

WELLINGTON, November 16.
A claim for £7B brought by Arnold Frederick Bash, a labourer, against the Federated Seamen’s Union and its President, F. P. Walsh, for alleged wrongful expulsion from the Union, was dismissed by Mr E. Page, S.M., today.
Bash, in evidence, said he had signed off after suffering an injury to- his back. He vja.s . Mer sentenced to 21 days’ for receiving at Auckland. On applying in May last for his union book, he was refused admission to the Union. Mr Walsh told him he had been concerned in fighting, and in receiving stolen goods. Walsh, in the course of his evidence, said the real reason for the expulsion was an assault on a youthful steward at Dunedin.
Mr Page said the Union had acted 1 constitutionally in holding on inquiry and expelling Bash. He had no doubt the plaintiff ha.d received notice to attend the meeting. Costs were allowed the Union.
