UNITED CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS.
(By Telegraph —Per Press Association)
PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. 17
Mr M. H. Oram, the United Parry's candidate for Palmerston North, decided to withdraw his nomination at a meeting of his supporters. It was decided that, while the Committee views with grave disfavour the method of the selection of Coalition candidates by party leaders, it nevertheless feels, under the circumstances as they exist at present, that the official United candidate should withdraw. At the same time the Committee is strongly of the opinion that in future, the election of a candidate must be left to the executives of parties concerned in each electorate affected.
