IMPRESSIONS OF CANADA
VIEWS OF NEW ZEALANDER. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 16, Bro. L. Deans Ritchie of Dunedin, Grand Sire- of 1.0.0. F. Lodge, of New Zealand and Australia, returned to-day by the Makura from 'San Francisco, after representing New -Zealand and Australia, at the Conference of the Order in Winnipeg. He said that the Conference was an exceptionally big one, over 7,000 representatives being present. Mr Ritchie toured America and Canada. The scenic resorts in Canada were very beautiful, but he thought that New Zealand scenery was equal to any that he had seen. Canada seemed to be feeling the effects of the depression less than any other country he had visited. Canadians had a very friendly feeling towards New Zealanders, but. they seemed to think ■that New Zealand butter had been going into the country at a busy time, and underselling local product. It was a great pity that negotiations, instead of ■ retaliation, did noj, take as far as butter and other products were corn cerned.
