GIANT NEW LINER
THE ‘‘STRATHNAVER. ’ (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, November 12. The huge Peninsular liner “Strathnaver” berthed at Sydney to-day at rthe completion of her maiden voyage. Her sheer white sides glistening in the Igunshine, towering upon, decks, and great bulk, dwarfed tile surrounding wharf buildings. The evening papers publish striking pictures of the majestic liner 'approaching the berth in the vicinity of the colossal Harbour bridge, which figures prominently in the background. Viscount Glenapp, joint DeputyChairman of the Peninsular Company, is a passenger. He said his Company had given Australia an instance of the ability and willingness of British shipowners to serve the Commonwealth with modern ships. Ho emphasised that a unique opportunity was about to open for commercial consolidation of the Empire. All that required to he done was for Britain and the Dominions to reach a common understanding, but an Empire partnership could not he one-sided. Viscount Glenapp said he was amazed at the way Sydney had grown - since he visited Australia in 1910.
