REFORM PARTY

MASTER-TON, Nov. 11
.A large and representative meeting of the Reform Party delegates was held lit Carterton this evening, and a further discussion of the political situation, with particular reference to the position in the Wairnrapa elecorate.
The meeting unanimously passed a resolution asking Mr A. D. McLeod to contest the seat-, and also declaring that failing Mr McLeod’s acceptance of nomination another candidate would lie, nominated.
Mr McLeod was comirniticated'with and lie was asked to give a reply to the meeting. Mr McLeod said that lie could not very well give an immediate reply but lie recognised that the time available was very short. Therefore, he made the following statement fon tTnnmission through the Press Association : '
“If' the United candidates who are opposing the undermentioned Coalition candidates, Messrs David Jones (Mid Canterbury), F. Waite (Clutlia), H. S. Kyle (Riccarton), and T. D. Burnett’(Temuka), agreed to withdraw, and if they publicly notified their withdrawal by Friday next, he would bo fully justified in standing by the pact, between the Reform and United Parties. Unless the United candidates in question notified thtdr withdrawal by Friday next, Mr McLeod stated, he would feel quite justified in offering his services .to Wftirarapa.
DUNEDIN NORTH. FIVE CANDIDATES OUT. DUNEDIN, Nov. 11. Mr J. McCrae was unanimously pelocted to-day as official Coalition candidate for the Dunedin North seat. There are, however, four other candidates also in the field for the Dunedin North seat. Mr J. N. Munro, Labour M. P., i s the sitting member. The other candidates are: Mr S. Black (Independent United), Mr C. M. Moss (Independent), and Mr W. R. Hayward (Independent).
ANOTHER INDEPENDENT. FOR. DUNEDIN SOUTH. DUNEDIN, Nov. 11. Mr D. C. Cameron is now definitely announced as an Independent candidate for the Dunedin South seat. AUCKAND CONTESTS. NEARLY ALL THREE-CORNERED. AUCKLAND, Nov. 11. For the ten Auckland City and suburban seats 28 candidates are ..announced so far. Only in two, Manakau and Auckland suburbs, do straivH out contests appear likely. Mr H. R. MacKenr.ie (United) Auckland West, has definitely decided to remain in the contest. Mr M. J. Moore (United Manakau) has withdrawn in favour of S. Richards (Reform Coalitiioriist). Mr W. H Nagle, Mount Eden Borough Councillor, to-day entered the field as an Independent candidate for Eden
' WELLINGTON EAST. WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. Mr T. Forsyth has been selected as the Coalition candidate for Wellington East, against Mr R. Semple. Messrs Gaudin and Clark retire, and will support Mr Forsyth. TRIANGULAR CONTEST AT BLENHEIM. BLENHEIM, November 12. It is now definite that thefe win be ,a- three cornered election for Wairau. The candidates are Mr Healy (Coalition United), Mr IV. J. Girling .(Independent) and Mr .E. Meachen (Labour).
