INCREASE IN REVENUE, , ,<j The Hokitika Harbour Board met yesterday afternoon when there, were present Messrs M. Houston (Chairman), E. W. Heenan, J. J. Mclntosh. D. P. 'Stuart, N. Warren and the Secretary .(Mr Wilde). The Signalman (Mr G. .Howe), reported that the channel over the bar was running in a northerly direction, and carrying, during the past fortnight from 10 to 12 feet of water. The late freshes had not had the effect of improving the bar to. any extent due to the fact that the middle channel was running directly into the north wall, a little below the signal station. At this point the force of the river was lost. .<

The Secretary reported that for the year, which closed on September 30th last, the revenue account showed a surplus of £l7B 18s Bd. The Board had spent on harbour works the sum of £B3l 9s 9d, and nad received from the Unemployment Board the sum of £512 '2s, so that the general fund provided £289 7s 9d. The special . rates had brought in £960 Os 4d, while £l2lß 15s had been repa'd to the Government. The Board’s revenue for the. five months from June to October for wharfages was <£ls6 13s 4d, being an amount considerably more than that for any similar corresponding period during the last ten years. ' . Accounts amounting to £29 13s 9d were passed for payment.
