ON SHORT WAVE,
REGULAR SERVICE PROPOSED

Tli© British Broadcasting Corporation are to build a new and powerful short wave broadcasting station at Daventry -to provide programmes whioh will bje practically continuous every day for all parts of the Empire.
* Several wave lengths, designed to give th e best reception, under varying conditions, in different parts-sbfru. the Empire will be employed. The cost of the new station is estimated at £40,000 together with that of maintenance. A special programme will be at first undertaken by the British Broadcasting Corporation, although it hoped that the different parts of the Empire, will later pay a share.
The announcement says : For some time the 8.8. Corporation have been in consultation with the Government Departments concerned and the subject was discussed with the last Imperial Colonial Conference. The difficulties of financing such a service on a permanent basis have :so far postponed the development of an experimental service from Chelmsford Station 05, S.W. The object will be to give as many listeners ' ag possible in all parts of the Empire a programme from the Home, country >fit-the hours when it will he most convenient for them to. listen,' hut the details of the times of operation will depend upon the results of the experiments and hpon the demand. ,
