MINING
REPORTED NELSON REEF. According to information received at Collingwood, Nelson,' a reef which gives promise of being rich in gold has been located in the vicinity of the old workings of the Golden Blocks mine, on the Taitapu Estate, near West Haven, says the “Golden Bay' Times.” One of the three small mines on the Golden Blocks is reported to have formerly returned as much as 41oz of gold to'the ton of crushed ore. Although promoters of the proposed Taitapu Prospecting Company are reticent in regard to activity at the Golden Blocks, it -is significant that the recent find took to Collingwood, among others, Messrs N. S. McNabb, of Melbourne ; T. H. Lee and E. Y. Jones, of Reefton • and L. C. Harvey, of-London; while O. C. Black, M.P., also made a special trip ’ from Wellington.
