MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association ) WELLINGTON, -November 4. William Henry Boyce, aged twentythree years, was charged with manslaughter, by striking Percy William Child. An inquest is being held concurrently • Child, a carrier by occupation, .was found unconscious outside the Royal Tiger Hotel on October 17th. He died in the hospital on October 20th, after an operation, without recovering consciousness. The medical witnesses stated that Child had. concussion and superficial facial injuries, consistent with a b' QW with a fist and a fall on the pavement. The deceased smelt strongly of drink. Evidence was given by several men who said that- they saw the blow struck thought that Child was acting as peacemaker in a dispute. Detective Hayhurst said the accused had made a statement- in which he said he struck one blow, but it was not heavy. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
