For the second time in a brilliant career, Phar Lap disappointed the public in the Melbourne Cup, Only at one stage did he give the slightest sign that he might rise to the occasion, and that was about, five furlongs from the finishing post. • Concentrate went down with colours flying, and but for him breaking dow T n, Shadow’ King would again have w’on only a minor placing. Carry On ran an .oven race through out.
