It were poss.ibie that at the back ol the. minds of the instigators of the scheme there was the hope that the in_ flux of men, and the possibilities ofinding payable gold, would indirectly benefit that district. The prospecting fields were a considerable distance from the township^and tinstores and equipment would have to be packed on horseback for .the fina. part of the journey. The meeting went into committe*. to hear further .statements, and oi. resuming in open meeting nothing wa.available, for publication. It is understood, however, that the Unemployment Board has already had the matter of gold prospecting 1 under consideration, and that no final decision has yet been made on.,the proposal from Ross .
