Later he joined the Government service as a surveyor, alUt subsequently took up a position witn the Singapore Improvement Trust, which has carried out some extensive works fin the East. It is now constructing a huge aeroplane and seaplane base, which will be used for civil purposes. A large swamp will be reclaimed and a seaplane base formed on an arm of the sea. The site of the base in close to the ci.ty of Singapore. Mr Xe?sou said work had been going on .steadily on the naval dock. 'Certainly the Government- had onlybeen completing contracts but there was not the slightest chance of it being abandoned, Too much work had already been accompl shed and too much money spent for that to happen.
