OKATUTO DREDGE. Last week’s return from the Okarito Five Mile Beach dredge was 74 ozs. of gold. KING SOLOMON DEEP LEAD. The King Solomon Deep Lead, Gore, returned 61 ozs I I dwts for the week' ending October 24th. A NUGGET. 'The Westport “Times” stales:-—A local prospectin' showed a. reporter a nugget of gold which li.e ..picked up in the Mokihinui River. The nugget weighed well over an online and contained a small quantity of quartz. Tt was waterworn but the remarkable feature of the find was that it was lying on top of the gravel in the river bed, having apparently been recently brought downi from the higher reaches’ of the river ini a ilood.

MINES LIMITED. j The Mine Manager’s report for last 'week is as follows: j No. 3 Level North (McViear) : —At a distance of 32 feet north of main crosscut stone 2 feet wide came in, this has been driven on seven feet, the face tto-day showing stone 4 feet 6 inches wide. The stone is going strong underfoot, and appears to he striking to the, north about 1 in 1. The face looks very promising, gold showing very freely in, the stone. No. 3 North Intermediate Me Vicar: —Ten feet • has been driven for the period on stone averaging 8 feet -in width. The footage driven to date on this stone is 32 feet making {lie total stopping length of block 102 feet. The face shows a strong body of good battery ore 9 feet in width and looks well for continuing some distance further. Stoping-McKay :-—A few tons of ore are still being obtained from these stopes. Two men are also employed driving a. surface level to the south of No. 2 winze, the face showing 1,5 inches of stone. No. 3 McViear Stopes:—There is no change in these stopes to report, all stuping faces looking well.

Mr W. Absalom, who has been developing a. quartz mine at Waiuta, was in Beef ton on [Monday. He informed the Ileeffton “Times” that the battery is just about completed, and hopes to he able to- start crushing in a week or two. The stone- in the mine, is reported to he good, and all will hope that Air Absalom and his persevering partner will he richly rewarded for their perseverance and enterprise.
