TEACHERS’ CIRCULAR
CRITICISED BY EDUCATION BOARD. WELLINGTON, October 21. “It is a most unfortunate circular, ’ remarked Mr Forsyth, chairman of the Wellignton Education, Board, when the circular recently issued by the New Zealand Federation of Teachers relative to possible education economies was distributed to Board members. He said that from a literary point of view he did not think it reflected much credit. Mr O. H. Nicholls: I think the thing is going to be very bitter. Quite a number of old friends are going to quarrel. Mr P. Robertson said it had been stated that economies could be made. H© suggested that if the Board could see where economies could be made without loss of efficiency, the information might be handed on. The chairman said there were instances of overlapping. He did not suggest that anything could be done in regard to primary schools. He had advised the teachers to keep clear of the movement, which was only using the primary school teachers for the time being. Previously the secondary school teachers were behind the primary school teachers on very rare occasions.
