Although the gold exported abroad or earmarked for foreign accounts since Britain'# suspension’ of the gold standard bus totalled almost a billion dollars, the American stocks of gold is skill approximately 4,400,000,000 dollars. This quantity is due to gold imports from Argentina, from Canada and from other countries during the period.
The Federal Reserve Board, moreover, announced to-day that the foreign demand for American gold had subsequently little effect on the volume of free gold at the disposal of the Board.
