GYMNAST CLUB

A PLEASING ENTERTAINMENT. The Hokitika Gymnast Club gave a very attractive performance at Princess Theatre last evening, though the attendance. was not as large as the capital entertainment provided warranted. For two hours a bevy of young athletic women gave a display of a very varied nature, each item being of distinctly pleasing and successful nature. Jhe local Club had the assistance of Miss Austin raid Mr Mussen of Christchuich and the finished performance of the former was a. wonderful treat. The * young lady gave a wonderful aerobatic ~ turn, assisted by Mr Mus-rm, while her solo dances were of a clever and Y pleasing nature. Mr Mussen was likewise very successful in his items. V The Gaiety Dance Band supplied the ' overtures and the music for the various numbers and their bright music assisted considerably in the .successful programme. * During an interval Mr H. M. Coul- ■ son returned thanks to the audience , for their attendance, to Miss Lynn and | her orchestra, to Miss Austin and Air ■ Mussen whose assistance had proved in-jj*-valuable and was given without cost * to. the Club, to Mr R. Lynn behind ythe scenes and to Afr Mclntosh who had generously accommodated the Christchurch visitors free of charge. .'Special reference was made to the •: \v6rk of Miss Dolly AfcAVhirter ns loader of the Club, . A pleasing feature Aya's the presentation of a, handsome bouquet (given by Mrs Randall) by n ■■'little dot to Miss Austin and another presentation by another little* dot consisted of a necklet and earrings, i - The programme was as follows:—Overture—Orchestra ; Clubs, Girls ; 'Song, Miss A. Musson ; Tumbling, Girls. Interlude—Orchestra; Skipping, Aliss M. Austin; Ballet, Girls; Song, Connie Staines ; Hoops, Girls: Character, Aliss M. Austin ; Dumb-bells, Girls ; Boys Tap, Boys ; Banjo, Messrs Jeff Collet and T. Donovan; Acrobatics, J. Alusson and AT. Austin; Pyramids, Gids. The singing of the National Anthem brought ,the ■ entertainment to a successful* conclusion.
