THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.
IRISH TERRORISM. When the British Government ruled Southern Ireland it did so as an alien authority, whose regime was distasteful to the great majority of the people, Mr Cosgrave’s authority proceeds from an Irish Gove lament fieely -elected. Tt follows that the general attitude towards this policy beyond Ireland will be much more favourabe than it was towards coercion in the ’eighties. —Auckland Star.
