TWO MEN SHOT
SLAYER ACQUITTED. (United Pres? Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, October 19A message from Los Angeles states that Clark was acquitted. He admitted killing Spencer and Crawford, and claimed that he shot in sendefence. The women congratulated Clark. The women members of the jury embraced Mrs Clark. A cablegram from New York, on May 22,. stated that a sensation was caused at Los Angeles by the murder of Herbert Spencer, the former chief-of-.staff of the “Evening. Express,” and the serious wounding of Charles Crawford, a well known figure in political circles, by Clark, who shot them while they were conversing in Crawford’s office at Hollywood. Crawford lingered a few hours, but died on the operating table.
