Edison (whose illness was previously cabled on September 5) is'putting .up a tremendous fight for life, his -physicians tonight stated that they were afraid that the end was near. The .strength of the inventor’s heart is proving extraordinary. . FAMOUS INVENTOR. DEATH OF EDISON. ’ (Received this day at- 9.25 a.m) WEST ORANGE (New Jersey), Oct. 18 Thomas A. Edison, the famous inventor, died at 3.24 a.m. on Sunday, aged 84 years. ’ ’ •'>” A His wife, six children., personal physician and two nurses were at the bed. side when the end came. Dr. Hubert S. Howe, said the collapse was traceable directly to the curtailment of his diet to relieve gastric ulcers. Edison was' also suffering from diabetes, Brights disease and anemic poisoning, ; [T. A.
