The New South Wales State Lottery has proved such a money-spinner that it was not to be epexctej the Trades Hall would be long in attempting to dip into the golden stream. Hie first move comes with a series of astounding claims that the Clerks’ Union will serve on the Public Service Board early next week, on behalf of 260 employees in the State Lottery Department.

The Clerks’ Union has demanded that the Department should provide cushioned seats with “hacks on them, and also that where employees work under electric light they should receive 25 per cent more than their ordinary salaries. Included in the long list of- claimsthe log covers five sheets of foolscap—is one that a costing accountant in charge of more than ten persons shall receive £ls 14/- a week, and on the question of overtime it is demanded that the employer must give 24 homenotice. If an employee refuses to work overtime he shall not be prejudiced, and, in any ease, transport to their homes must h e provided for overtime workers.

Annual holidays of three week's’ dur. at ion are claimed, and, in addition, after ten years’ employment, a servant, of the State Lottery Department must receive 13 weeks’ consecutive holiday. All salaries must he paid not later than Thursday, and, of course, preference must he given to the members of the Clerks’ Union.
