HOKITIKA CLUB. A meeting of the Committee was held on Monday evening in Keller’s Rooms. Present: Messrs F. McGregor (chair), 11. Furness, J. Johnson, F, Ballenger, 0. Hahn, J. Atkinson, and Secretary. Apology was made for Messrs M. McGavin and J. Staffoid. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A lengthy discussion followed re Saturday afternoons and evenings for tournaments. Mr Johnson finally moved, that the motion in the minutes relative to a tourney being held on mo 31st inst. be minded, and the tourney be held over pending arrangements with the Bath’s Committee, to Decern tier. Seconded i>v J. Atkinson and carried.

SHARKEY WINS. CARNERm TOO SLOW. NEARLY OUT AT THE END. (United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, Oct. 13. The boxing contest between Jack Sharkey and P.rimo Camera resulted in the decision being given to Sharkey The weights were :—Camera, 261 lbs, Sharkey 202-Jlbs. Sharkey let Camera take the offensive at the outset, but he had little trouble in evading the Italian’s rushes and landing effectively with his right. In the second round Sharkey ran into a wild left lead by the Italian. They then exchanged blows, landing lightly on the face and body. Sharkey had some difficulty in reaching his opponent, but ho had the better of the fight thus far.

In the third the American boxed well, while Primo was missing badly. The Italian’s advantage in reach made it impossible for Sharkey to use jabbing tactics, This round was even.

EXCITING ROUND. Jn the fourth round Camera was rushing in, hut Sharkey found no difficulty in dodging him. Sharkey landed three hard lefts to the body. Sharkey then floored his opponent with a hard right to the chin. Camera later went down again, but without being hit. Camera then claimed a foul, buo the referee declined to allow it. Sharkey then claimed the fight cn a foul, because Camera fell without being hit. Sharkey then started climbing out of the ring, hut he was ordered back by the rereree. It was Sharkey’s round. Sharkey was hammering the Italian at will into the ropes in the fifth, the American seeking to land a finishing blow, and lie was puffing at the close, of the round from his exertion. Sharkey hooked-a hard right to the head, but missed, and he slipped to the canvas, but there was no count. This was also Sharkey’s round. In the sixth, Sharkey was longer on the aggressive, and Camera was scoring with jabs to the body and to the, head. It was Camera’s round. „

Sharkey continued making little attempt to lead in the seventh, being content to dodge the Italian’s lumbering blows. Sharkey scored with a hard left hook to the chin at the bell. It was Sharkey’s round.

The eight round was an even one, Sharkey going for the body, and Carnera jabb’ng. In the ninth t u e crowd were not; satisfied with the fighters, and their managers were booed for acting. Sharkey set Camera back on Ids heels with a left to the body, followed by three staggering lefts to the face. The Italian’s left eye swelled. It was Sharkey’s round!

In the tenth Camera was being badly outclassed, and- was tiring, Sharkey punishing him on the body. It. was again Sharkey’s lound. in the eleventh round Primo was taking pun'shment about the face, and Sharkey drew blood with a left to the nose, and racked the Italian badly about the body, it being Sharkey’s round. The twelfth and thirteenth rounds were merely a repetition of the eleventh. In the fourteenth, Sharkey doubled up Camera with a stinging left to the body, and then followed it with a left to the chin. It was also Sharkey’s; round. In the fifteenth round, Camera was out on his feet, Sharkey gaining the decision.
