WOMAN SHOOTS HUSBAND

MISTAKEN FOR BURGLAR.

A husband who was mistaken for a burglar was shot • dead by his wife while climbing through a window into her apartment at Chicago, a few weeks ago. The woman, Bernice Wyofsky, aged 24, was living apart from her husband. One night she was ’ awakened by a noise at her Window, and saw the figure of a man silhouetted in the window frame. The intruder- when challenged, said nothing, but proceeded to climo through the window. Calmly the woman took a revolver from under her pillow. Three shots were fired, and when the police arrived the man was dead. In the meantime .the woman had fled from the room, not looking at the body. The police ca’led her back, asking her if she knew the man. For the first time she looked at his features, and screamed. She had killed her estranged husband.
